Australia 2020 - Day 7 - Apollo Bay to Hobart

Wednesday

An early check out of the Sandpiper Motel and a 1.5 km walk along Apollo Bay blew the cobwebs away, a surprisingly warm morning but very windy.

The Great Ocean Rd sparkled in the sunshine as we drove the 100 miles back to Melbourne with a slight detour to drive the Grand Prix Circuit in Albert Park on our way to the airport.

The strong wind also caused havoc with our flight causing a slight delay in take off and turbulence in the air, landing was like a roller-coaster ride and I was expecting the call for a brace position at any moment.

Hobart has a lovely feel about it so far. Our hotel The Henry Jones Art Hotel is a 5 star boutique hotel in a converted Jam factory, we could either be related to the entrepreneurial owner or 5 convicts that were transported to Tasmania!

Our lonely Planet guidebook recommended a floating chippy called Flippers for tea so that's just what we did with a visit to the Hobart Brewhouse for a couple of pints of Aussie IPA. (Wish they had this at the Crafty Pint)

8,500 steps, 3 miles
