Australia 2020 - Day 3 - Melbourne

Saturday

Our overnight flight from KL was delayed by an hour, an 8 hour flight plus a 3 hour forward time shift where neither of us slept well means the jet lag has kicked in again but we are in Australia now and in the same time zone for over 2 weeks.

The Pan Pacific Hotel is in a superb riverside location, our room has a fantastic view, an illuminated skyline as I write this blog.

We had lunch at The Boatbuilders Yard, a smashing bar with a great vibe -plenty of locals dropping in for a leisurely Saturday lunch, food was great too.

The weather is beautiful, warm sunshine 23-28 degrees with a breeze so feeling much fresher than KL and no evidence of smoke from the Bushfires.

Feeling somewhat revived after lunch we took an Uber to Albert Park which is beginning to prepare for the 1st race of the F1  2020 season. Col couldn't resist a photo opportunity with statues of two former Australian F1 World Champions- Sir Jack Brabham and Alan Jones and a trip to podium.

We made our way back to the hotel, managed another beer at the Boatbuilders before Col crashed out for a couple of hours sleep and I hit the shops for some retail therapy, a pair of sandals that hopefully don't give me blisters.

Complementary bubbles and canapes at the hotel meant we didn't need dinner so had a riverside stroll and gelato, it feels a real treat to be promenading in summer clothes and the sun setting around 9.00 pm in January - we might get used to this.
