Copenhagen 2019 - Day 2
Day 2 Saturday
Too late to blog when we got back last night.
The sun is shining in Copenhagen today so we resume our walking tour of the city.
We just caught the changing of the guard at the royal palace but this wasn't a grand affair, the sentries were relieved of their duties and marched back to the barracks.
Sometimes geocaching tells us something interesting that the guidebooks miss out.
Today we saw Valkyries Spear pointing towards her "sister " who we found much later in the day, the 16th century houses that were built for Naval workers and a pretty shopping arcade.
Our route also took us to the immaculate Kings Park, quiet residential streets to designer shops in the High St.
It was interesting to visit the parliament building -Borgen which is protected by a series of concrete balls, an effective but aesthetically pleasing deterrent.
There were weddings in City Hall and a statue to Hans Christian Anderson, Copenhagen's most famous resident.
Christhaven- with the helter skelter church tower was one of our favourite places, sitting on the side of the dock with a beer watching all manner of boats negotiating the canal. If only all Saturday afternoons were like this!
The best way to see the city is either on foot, bicycle or by boat which means that the streets are generally not clogged up with cars although you could get run over by a bike!
Dinner in the sun by the harbour and catching the last few rays of sunshine finish our day perfectly.
