Canada 2018 - Day 8 - Salmon Arm
Saturday
It was rather grey over the lake when we drew back the curtains this morning and we did wonder how we would fill our time here.
The Shuawap Lake is a huge body of water shaped like a giant X, Salmon Arm is a town on one of the appendages. There is a nature trail (The Raven Trail) which curves around the foreshore. We thoroughly enjoyed walking the trail and spotting a huge variety of birds.
The Blue Heron is one of the most common and we saw plenty but also saw Pelicans, long billed waders, ducks and the highlight was a Bald Eagle. He was perched high up in a tree and we heard him screech before we saw him, even from the ground he looked huge but through the binoculars he looked really mean.
There were a few caches along the way too to keep us busy and for most of the walk the rain held off.
We have walked 12 km and after our long drive yesterday it has been good to leave the car in the parking lot.
