Canada 2018 - Day 3 - Vancouver to Victoria Vancouver Island.
Monday
Blue skies appeared when dawn broke over Canada Place which made a nice change.
Our car hire depot was just across the road from our hotel and we were first in line so we soon had our Ford Fusion (aka as a Mondeo) and headed out of the city to the ferry terminal. We made good time and boarded an early ferry and had a perfect calm crossing to Vancouver island.
Goldstone Provincial Park was the destination for lunch and a stroll to Niagara falls (no not that one)! This is a place where Pacific Salmon come to spawn in Oct/Nov, unfortunately for the Salmon they die after they have reproduced. Apparently there can be 300,000 kilos of dead Salmon in the river each year!!!!
We made our way back to our iconic hotel, the Fairmont Empress just on the waterfront of Victoria Harbour which after a room upgrade we had a fine view.
A couple of pints of Fat Tug IPA and fish and chips served from a shipping container eaten alfresco as the sun set rounds the day off nicely.
